A small plot test was conducted at the Texas A&M Research and Extension Center in Weslaco, Texas, to evaluate selected insecticides for control of onion thrips on onions. Experimental plots measured one row (40 in.) by 25 ft, with two border rows between plots. Treatments were arranged in a randomized complete block design with four replications. Insecticides were applied with a CO2 pressurized backpack sprayer at 40 psi in a total volume of 25 gal per acre. Nozzles were arranged with two 10X nozzles per row (over-top). Applications were made on 9, 12 and 20 Feb. Thrips populations were monitored by counting all thrips present on each of five randomly selected plants per plot.
