Peppers were transplanted on 28 May at the Eastern Shore Agricultural Experiment Station, Painter, VA. Each plot consisted of a double 25 ft row, bordered on each side by an untreated guard row, with 3 ft spacing between rows. Plots were replicated 4 times in a randomized, complete block design. Sprays were applied weekly, beginning 28 Jul. All market-sized fruit from both rows of each plot was harvested on 17 Aug, 14 Sep and 6 Oct and checked for insect damage. A total of 9 spray applications were made. Spray applications were made using a 3 hollow cone nozzle boom backpack sprayer delivering 60 gal water/acre at 40 psi. In addition to the fruit harvest, evaluation criteria consisted of aphid counts by species on 10 randomly picked leaves/plot.
