Ska loading to kinetochore is essential for chromosome segregation during mitosis. Here we show that multisite Cdk1 phosphorylation enables the formation of Ska-Ndc80 macro-complexes, thus loading Ska to kinetochores. This process is facilitated by spindle microtubules.
