In my review of the book of E. Giusti, Minimal surfaces and functions of bounded variation, reprinted in the Selected Mathematical Reviews section of the Bulletin of the Amer. Math. Soc., Vol. 45, No. 2, April 2008, 306–307, MR0775682 (87a:58041), I have erroneously attributed the authorship of Theorem 12.10 therein, “If the boundary of a domain has nonnegative mean curvature, the nonparametric Plateau problem has a unique solution”, to M. Miranda. This theorem was proved by H. Jenkins and J. Serrin in The Dirichlet problem for the minimal surface equation in higher dimensions, J. Reine Angew. Math., 229 (1968), 170–187, MR0222467 (36:5519).
