The antioxidant potential ofDryobalanops aromaticamethanolic (ME) andwater extracts (WE) tree barkwas studied by reducing power andDPPH free radical scavenging capacity assays.Methanolic extract showed better antioxidant capacity thanwater extract and butylated hydroxytoluene standard. The effective concentration EC50 (362.7mgDPPH eq/g forME and 555.4mgDPPHeq/g forWE) and antiradical power (0.0028 forME and 0.0018 forWE) suggest thatmethanolic extract has higher antioxidant properties thanwater extract. According to potentidynamic polarization, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and electrochemical noise, employed tomeasure the anti-corrosion properties of theD. aromatica tree bark extracts onmild steel in 0.5MHCl, thewater extract seems to perform slightly better thanmethanol extract. The calculated percentage inhibition efficiencies of the extracts at the optimumconcentration (1000 ppm)were; (IE=93.66% forME and 92.39% forWE). Adsorption process ofD. aromaticaMEandWEonmild steel surface inHCl solution followed Langmuir adsorption isotherm. The surfacemorphology depicts that the surface of themild steel treatedwithmethanol andwater extracts showed improvement compared tomild steel plate treated onlywith 0.5MHCl.
