We investigate the 1D interacting two-component Fermi gas with arbitrarypolarization. Exact results for the ground state energy, quasimomentumdistribution functions, spin velocity and charge velocity reveal subtlepolarization dependent quantum effects.Comment: 7 pages, 3 figures, final published version without the discussion of  harmonic trapping (to be taken up elsewhere). The effect of a magnetic-like  field term on pairing and phase transtions has been discussed via the TBA  approach in cond-mat/070219
