This study proposes a cost-effective deployment of the RSUs, aiming to improve the connectivity of VANET in highway scenarios. Based on real data, we present a general model that provides minimum number of candidate RSUs with their required positions to keep a given segment of highway always connected. The model employs some concepts of graph theory to test the connectivity in addition to stochastic (but based on realistic data) positioning of vehicles in a simulated environment The provided results show the efficiency of RSU deployment for any segment of a highway when real data is available in order to cover all vehicles on the highway.
