The paper reports about the unique discovery of fragments of wall painting of the middle of the XVIII century from the Vorontsov` Palace in St. Petersburg and its study by means of laser and IR spectroscopic techniques. The history of creation and reconstruction of the palace as well as technical and technological features of paintings are described.
