A rise of the core electron temperature Te in response to a controlled Ar gas-puff is observed in electron cyclotron heated plasmas of the Large Helical Device. The increase in core Te is about 1 keV after the Ar gas-puff. Since density peaking does not take place after the Ar gas-puff, this phenomenon is different from radiatively improved mode. Transient response analysis shows that a close similarity in the relationship between the electron heat flux and the Te gradient appears between the core Te rise after the Ar gas-puff and that due to the nonlocal effect induced by a pellet injection. Thus non-locality in the electron heat transport is essential for the core Te rise after the Ar gas-puff.
