We have determined new statistical relations to estimate the fundamentalatmospheric parameters of effective temperature and surface gravity, using MKspectral classification, and vice versa. The relations were constructed basedon the published calibration tables (for main sequence stars) and observationaldata from stellar spectral atlases (for giants and supergiants). These newrelations were applied to field giants with known atmospheric parameters, andthe results of the comparison of our estimations with available spectralclassification had been quite satisfactory.
