We calculate the quasinormal modes (QNMs) for gravitational perturbations ofthe Schwarzschild black hole in the five dimensional (5D) spacetime with acontinued fraction method. For all the types of perturbations(scalar-gravitational, vector-gravitational, and tensor-gravitationalperturbations), the QNMs associated with l=2, l=3, and l=4 are calculated. Ournumerical results are summarized as follows: (i) The three types ofgravitational perturbations associated with the same angular quantum number lhave a different set of the quasinormal (QN) frequencies; (ii) There is nopurely imaginary frequency mode; (iii) The three types of gravitationalperturbations have the same asymptotic behavior of the QNMs in the limit of thelarge imaginary frequencies. In Hawking temperature units these frequencies aregiven by log3 + i2pi(n+1/2) as n goes to infinity, where n is the mode number.Comment: 13 pages, 3 figures; to appear in JHE
