The proton capture cross sections of the two most proton rich, stableisotopes of Cadmium have been measured for the first time in the energy rangerelevant to the astrophysical p-process between Ep=2.4 and 4.7MeV. The106Cd(p,gamma)107In and 108Cd(p,gamma)109In cross sections have been determinedusing the activation technique. Highly enriched as well as natural Cd targetshave been irradiated with proton beams from both the Van de Graaff andCyclotron accelerators of the ATOMKI. The cross sections have been derived bymeasuring the gamma-radiation following the beta-decay of the 107In and 109Inreaction products. The experimental results are presented here and are comparedwith the predictions of Hauser-Feshbach statistical model calculations usingthe NON-SMOKER code. It is found that the calculation reproduces well theexperimental data. The sensitivity of the model calculations to the proton- andgamma-strengths is examined.Comment: Accepted for publication in Journal of Physics
