We will present a review of selected results on strange baryon productionfrom nucleus-nucleus collisions at the AGS, SPS and RHIC. From the AGS and SPSheavy ion physics program several intriguing aspects: centrality dependence ofstrangeness production, anti-hyperon yield, hyperon production enhancement andbaryon number transport will be highlighted. Our discussion on RHIC resultswill focus on experimental probes of partonic degree of freedom. Measurementsof the elliptic flow v2 and the nuclear modification factor and theirdistinctive particle dependence are presented as a function of transversemomentum.Comment: 10 pages, 6 figures, to appear in Strange Quark Matter 2003  conference proceeding
