The current research examined gender normative factors that would predict perceptions of transgender individuals in the workplace by cisgender individuals. Participants completed an online survey, which included measures of their own adherence to traditional gender norms along with measures examining their overall acceptance of transgender individuals. Hierarchical regression analyses were used and when controlling for political beliefs, results suggest that an adherence to traditional gender roles in the workplace and some aspects of masculinity can be predictive of negative attitudes toward transgender individuals. Results are discussed in terms overall implications for the workplace, as well as suggestions for further exploration.
