This paper investigates the corrosion rate of commercially demandable industrial purpose En31 steel. The deep cryogenic treatment is a cooling treatment at −196 °C for 24 hours, which was performed on En31 steel. The corrosion rates of En31 raw material, conventionally heat-treated and deep cryogenic-treated samples were found out using a weight loss method. A salt spray test was also done to observe red rust in the sample. The result shows that the deep cryogenically treated En31 steel has reduced the corrosion rate by 26.9% when compared with raw material and 14.2% when compared with conventionally heat-treated steel. It is observed that the red rust formation is less in deep cryogenically treated En31 steel. It is found that the deep cryogenically treated steel reduces the corrosion rate of En31 steel.
