This paper reports on the cutting resistance and deformation of a laminated PA6/PE (nylon-polyethylene) film stacked on a PC (polycarbonate) underlay by a wedge indentation. To investigate the effects of mechanical conditions on the cutting characteristics of the PA6/PE film, the blade tip thickness and temperature of blade were varied. The cutting line force was obtained using a recording unit; the bent-up angle and cutting profile of the PA6/PE film was observed using a CCD camera. From the experiments, it was revealed that the blade tip thickness remarkably affected the bent-up angle and quality of sheared profile of the PA6/PA film. Moreover, the effects of temperature of blade on the deformation of the PA6/PE film were revealed.
