This study examines herbal remedies and the undergraduate actor’s voice, specifically within a Nigerian. The study is a preliminary one and focuses on the perception and preference of undergraduate actors for specific herbal remedies (honey, bitter kola, ginger, and alligator pepper) in a single university in Nigeria. A questionnaire was administered to 180 undergraduate actors which comprised of first year to final year actors. These undergraduate actors have shown a preference for specific singular or combination herbal remedies to help improve their vocal output. Gender, level of study, and age differences emerged in this study as patterns for controlling relevant predictive choice and perception value of herbal remedy use. The findings are consistent with the conclusion that these herbal remedies are gradually becoming a norm for assisting freshmen into the acting profession and optimal vocal performance.
