The purpose of this research is to investigate the interior lighting environment of the registration room and waiting room of a bilateral lit clinic. Through measuring and comparing with computer-simulated values, exploring the lighting quality of the registration and waiting rooms of the clinic as well as calculating the energy consumption, an energy-saving and highly efficient lighting scheme that benefits the patients and medical staffs visually and psychologically is proposed. The results show that by reconfiguring the existing lighting scheme with LED lamps to the existing standards of 500 lux for the registration room and 200 lux for the waiting area, the energy use intensity is reduced by 10.6 W/m 2 , which is a 59% yearly saving, with an average payback period of 2.8 years.
