The Dynamic Penetration Test (DPT) is one of the simplest and least expensive in-situ tests, used in geotechnical projects. However, in the literature, there is no available practical method for constructing the  P–Y  curves based on the DPT test ( P  is the soil-pile reaction and  Y  is the pile deflection). This paper is aimed at suggesting a new practical method of constructing the  P–Y  curves on the basis on the DPT data in sandy soils. This method was derived from the interpretation of five full-scale lateral loading tests on fully instrumented piles in sandy soils. Simple analytical formulation of the  P–Y  curves parameters, as well as design practical charts were proposed as function of the number of blows  N dof the DPT test. The results predicted by the proposed DPT based  P–Y  curve agreed relatively well with measured results within the margin of small to medium deflection.
