In order to analyze the effects of freeze-thaw environment, multi-scale analysis (macro to micro) was applied to study the sustainable service performance for porous asphalt pavement in Sponge City (PASC). Based on the molecular simulation theory, the asphalt-water (ice) interaction was studied at the micro in the paper. Combined with the results of temperature melting and contact angle in macro experiments, the sustainable service performance for PASC under freeze-thaw environment was explained in multi-scale. The results show that the effects of freeze-thaw environment on PASC’s sustainable service performance are multi-scale. It is a process from macro to micro, including the fluctuation of interface transition zone, the change of contact angle, the melting of pore ice, the service performance of porous asphalt pavement and the sustainability of Sponge City. Additionally, the aging effect reduces the recovery ability of the service performance for PASC. The critical temperature (0°C) is more sensitive to the interaction between aged asphalt and water (ice). The research results reveal the multi-scale correlation of sustainable service performance for PASC, which has certain theoretical significance and practical value for the application and exploration of Sponge City in freeze-thaw region.
