The paper analyses the work of fiction by author, producer, and actor Brit Marling in the context of posthumanism and ecofeminism and in dialogue with philosopher and posthumanist theorist Rosi Braidotti. Co-creator of three movies and a TV series, Marling has emerged as a unique and distinctive voice in speculative fiction in the last decade, proposing narratives that examine the role of the human being in a changing world, the importance of relationality, and the need for intra/interspecies and human-earth connections to counter some of the major plagues of our time. The paper highlights how Marling’s work and voice represent not only another step away from the postfeminist era in media and popular culture, but also a defining and innovative look at new forms of media and story-telling and feminist thinking in pop-culture.
