In modern times, with mass transportation systems, driver fatigue has become one of the main causes of traffic accidents. The development of intelligent transportation systems holds great promise for safety. Increasingly, policies, laws, and regulations will consider artificial intelligence applications for minimising driver fatigue. This study presents the basic features of facial recognition systems applied to driver fatigue monitoring, as well as their comparative strengths and limitations. Traffic psychology has much to offer road safety from driver fatigue applying deep learning algorithms to reduce traffic accidents and ensure traffic safety.
