In this work, NH 4 Cl flux-assisted solution combustion synthesis of Eu 3+ -doped CdSiO 3  phosphor has been reported. The prepared phosphor has been characterised using XRD, SEM, FTIR, UV–Vis and PL techniques. The influence of NH 4 Cl flux on the structural, morphological and photoluminescence (PL) properties has been thoroughly investigated. The PL spectra of 5 mol% Eu 3+ -doped CdSiO 3  nanophosphor monitored at Eu 3+  emission wavelength of 613 nm, consists of four broad excitation peaks centred at 362 nm, 381 nm, 393 nm and 414 nm ascribed to Eu 3+  ion transitions from its  7 F 0  ground state energy level to different excited energy states  5 H 3 ,  5 L 7 ,  5 L 6  and  5 D 3 , respectively. CdSiO 3 :Eu 3+  samples prepared by using 6 wt% flux showed appreciable improvement in emission intensity in the studied concentration limit. The observed improvement in the orange-red photoluminescence is due to effective substitution of Eu 3+  ions in the CdSiO 3  lattice.
