In this research, oil sludge was subjected to the stabilization process by solidification, the objective was to optimize the process responses, thus showing the best treatment related to the percentage of residue and curing time, which leads to the most optimized response for integrity and durability of the resulting material. Factorial planning and central composite planning were used. The factors adopted were percentage of oil sludge and cure time. To analyze the effects of these factors on the response variables, analysis of variance was used. Cement matrices were made with various oil sludge fractions (5, 20, 12.5, 1.89 and 23.11%) and cured at different curing times (7, 28, 17.5, 2.64 and 32.35 days) out according to the experimental planning. The optimum point for humidification and drying was 1.79%, for water absorption of 13.7% and for compressive strength was 19.7 MPa. All treatments maintained their values below the maximum limit recommended, which is ≥ 1 MPa for compressive strength, ≤ 40% for water absorption and ≤ 15% for humidification/drying. As a result of this study, it was demonstrated that the optimization of responses is a way to minimize and or maximize the variable responses in the process of stabilization by solidification.
