In this research, spherical gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) were synthesized using the water extract of Haplophyllum Obtusifolium. The physicochemical characteristics of Au NPs were determined by FTIR, UV-Vis spectroscopy, TEM, DLS, and ξ-potential. UV-Vis has demonstrated the successful synthesis of Au NPs (λmax = 548 nm). The TEM images have revealed the spherical morphology of the nanoparticles, which displayed the mean particle size of 12 nm. DLS data showed aggregation of the particles that was not far from expectation. It appears the main reason for aggregation and large hydrodynamic sizes compared to the solid phase diameter was related to the presence of the molecules that were soluble in the water extract, attaching to the surface of Au NPs in the solution. The cell toxicity results have shown the effectiveness of the nanoparticle on the mouse breast cancer cells. The green synthesized Au NPs displayed lower toxicity against NIH3T3 cell lines    .
