In this proposed research article, Tin Sulphide is synthesised and coated over an optical-fibre by Chemical Bath Deposition (CBD), which is to be employed for sensing gases (Nitrogen dioxide-NO 2 , Carbon dioxide-CO 2  and Sulphur dioxide-SO 2 ). The structural and optical properties of tin sulphide are characterised by X-ray Diffraction analysis (XRD), Ultraviolet-visible absorption spectroscopy, Photoluminescence spectroscopy (PL), Ultraviolet-visible Spectroscopy in Reflectance mode, Scanning Electron Microscopy images (SEM) and Energy-Dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX). The sensitivity and selectivity of the gas-sensing application are also analysed, and it is found that the optical fibre coated for 30 minutes showed appreciable response towards SO 2  gas, when compared to the response towards the other two gases.
