Heterocycles are the most diversified class of organic compounds. Aromatic heterocycles are building blocks of a wide range of biologically active synthetic and natural products, agrochemicals, and medicines. Aromatic heterocycles have been used as intermediates in organic synthesis. Thioureas are considered as key reactants in the synthesis of industrial chemicals and heterocycles. In this review article, we have focused on the synthesis of heterocycles by use of thioureas as chiral auxiliaries and as reactants.
