In this study,  β -CD-Ti 4+ -Fe 3 O 4  and  β -CD-Fe 3 O 4 -Ti 4+  composites were prepared as novel, highly efficient and magnetically recoverable catalysts. The structures of these two composites were characterized by FT-IR, XRD, SEM, EDS, VSM, and TGA techniques. Their performance was also studied through the one-pot three-component synthesis of  bis (indolyl)methane and benzo[ a ]xanthen-11-one derivatives. The reactions were carried out under solvent-free conditions, and the catalysts were easily recovered using an outside magnet. The products were obtained in good to high yields. The catalytic efficiency of  β -CD-Ti 4+ -Fe 3 O 4  was compared to that of the  β -CD-Fe 3 O 4 -Ti 4+  composite. The result indicated that the catalytic activities of  β -CD-Ti 4+ -Fe 3 O 4  and  β -CD-Fe 3 O 4 -Ti 4+  are the same but the magnetic strength of  β -CD-Ti 4+ -Fe 3 O 4  is greater than that of the  β -CD-Fe 3 O 4 -Ti 4+  composite.
