7-amino-5-(4-methoxyphenyl)-2,4-dioxo-2,3,4,5-tetrahydro-1H-pyrano[2,3-d]pyrimidine-6-carbonitrile was prepared as an amine and then reacted with salicylaldehyde and Ni(NO 3 ) 2 .6H 2 O to afford nano–Ni-[4-methoxyphenyl-salicylaldimine-pyranopyrimidine dione] (NO 3 ) 2  {Nano-[Ni-4MSP](NO 3 ) 2 } as a new Schiff base complex in nano size. Nano-[Ni-4MSP](NO 3 ) 2  as a new complexes was fully characterized by various analyses and successfully used as an effectual catalyst for the synthesis of some 1-(-Aminoalkyl)-2- naphthols.
