An efficient synthesis of some new chromene derivatives by condensing a series of aromatic aldehydes with 4-hydroxycoumarin and 3,4-methylenedioxyphenol catalyzed by Ag 2 Cr 2 O 7  nanoparticles in aqueous media at room temperature is described for the first time. Avoiding hazardous solvent, using inexpensive, recyclable and nontoxic catalyst, very mild reaction conditions, high yields of products, short reaction time, simple experimental, and easy purification are the remarkable advantages of this procedure.
