Status of Master's Programs in Information Systems

In the rapidly changing information systems (IS) field it is very critical for schools to reevaluate their IS curriculum on a periodic basis in order to produce graduates that are relevant for the ever-changing market. This paper presents the findings from an investigation of 98 Master's programs in IS in the U.S. The results presented include summary of the credit hour requirements, and the listing of the top fifteen (based on the frequency of occurrence) prerequisite/foundation courses, core courses, and elective courses. The results will be useful to schools with IS programs in evaluating their program and making necessary changes. The results will also be useful to schools considering new IS programs.
