A plant growth-promoting rhizobacterial strain B6 was isolated from a Cowpea rhizosphere soil in the Vellodu village of Dindugul district, Tamil Nadu, India. It could be identified as  Pseudomonas aeruginosa  VRKK1 through biochemical and 16S rDNA gene sequencing. The plant growth promoting behaviour already exhibited by this strain, further its bioactive metabolite extracted using chloroform. Crude extract and column purification study reveals that the idea of using this biometabolite against  Xanthomonas campestris . F4 and F5 fractions showed 41 and 40 mm zone of inhibition which confirmed the broad spectrum antibacterial activity. Further this biometabolite analytically characterized and found to be as octadecanoic acid 2-oxo methyl ester. The identified biometabolite checked for the reduction of bacterial blight disease in cowpea with the disease severity percentage of 40.24% compared to control and induced plants.
