The present research devised a strongly sensitive user-friendly electrochemical sensor to determine Sudan I with regard to ZnFe 2 O 4  nanoparticles (NPs) modified graphite screen-printed electrode (GSPE), ZnFe 2 O 4 /SPE, with various cyclic voltammetry (CV) and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) methods. Our sensor exhibited clear catalytic behaviours towards Sudan I oxidation validated by the reduced oxidation peak potentials and enhanced the peak currents of oxidation as compared to the bare SPE. Therefore, Sudan I electron transfer coefficient (α) as well as the diffusion coefficient (D) have been derived at the modified electrode. Analyses showed 0.1–500.0 μM linear response range and 0.03 μM limit of detection (LOD). While determining Sudan I, other species exhibited no intervention in the new sensor surface at optimum condition. Finally, Sudan I has been successfully determined by this sensor in the real samples with reasonable outputs.
