The three-dimensional forming characteristics and mechanical properties of the Al–Cu alloy components, fabricated by the cold metal transfer-based wire arc additive manufacturing process with different deposition parameters, were analysed. A three-dimensional scanner is employed to test the geometrical forming characteristics of deposition components under different parameters. The results indicate that inappropriate heat input reduces the dimensional accuracy of the components. Based on the analysis of the mechanical properties of deposited components, the tensile strength and the elongation increase with the increase in deposited heat input. Meanwhile, the anisotropic tensile properties in the components are more significant. Higher ultimate tensile strength is obtained in the deposition direction than perpendicular to the deposition direction.
