The female of  Cosmosoma papalo  (Laguerre) and its genitalia are described and illustrated here for the first time. A new record of this endemic moth provides a distributional extension of 101 km to the northwest of the type locality, in a secondary cloud forest fragment of mountainous central Veracruz, Mexico. Biogeographic comments on distributional patterns are made.
