In this study, we introduced SnO 2 -Sb 2 O 3  intermediate layer and Bi oxide into the PbO 2  electrode based on Ti mesh, and investigated the improvement of electrochemical decolorization efficiency and its durability for synthetic dyes. A methylene blue dye was selected as the substance to be decolorized and was applied to the treatment. The morphology, structure, composition, and electrochemical performance of the prepared anode were evaluated by scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), photoluminescence (PL), cyclic voltammetry (CV), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIC). In addition, the durability of the anode was investigated by cycle treatments and accelerated life experiments. As a result of the characteristic evaluation, it was confirmed that the electrodeposition of the PbO 2  layer was further enhanced and the crystal structure was strengthened by incorporating the transition metal. Experimental parameters for electrochemical decolorization are: Na 2 SO 4  electrolyte (0.05 mol L −1 ), initial concentration of methylene blue 9 ppm, current density 0.05–0.10 A cm −2 , pH 6.0. In conclusion, methylene blue could be completely decolorized with an improved PbO 2  electrode. The modified PbO 2  electrode showed better decolorization efficiency and higher durability, compared to the un-doped PbO 2  mesh electrode. By doping the transition metal, the active layer of PbO 2  was fabricated with high stability, and the oxidizing power could be maintained.
