This article investigates the natural convection heat transfer and inclined magnetic-field effects of a nanofluid past a vertical stretching sheet embedded in a porous medium with a non-uniform heat source or sink. The flow pattern is developed by a single-phase nanofluid model. Two different types of nanoparticles, namely, Molybdenum disulphide (MoS 2 ) and Magnesium oxide (MgO) are considered. The effect of radiation is considered. The unsteady governing flow equations are changed into a set of non-linear ordinary differential equations (ODE’s) by using suitable similarity transformations, and then solved numerically by using the MATLAB bvp4c shooting technique. The impact of different flow quantities on velocity and temperature fields is presented and analysed through graphs and tables. The results show that the magnetic field and porous medium prevent the flow reversal in both nanofluids. The minimum (maximum) temperature is observed for MgO + water (MoS 2  + water) nanofluid.
