A solar-powered tri-generation organic Rankine cycle (ORC) for generating electric power, producing fresh water, and providing heating power is proposed. Its performance is thermodynamically analysed and optimised on two typical days; 25 June and 25 December. The flexibility of the proposed system makes it a good choice for using in remote areas. The system includes parabolic trough solar collectors, a modified ORC, and a single-stage flash desalination unit. Multi-objective optimisation based on the genetic algorithm is performed to find the optimal performance of the system in terms of electric power generation, fresh water production, and heating power (system outputs). Pareto front of the system optimisation on 25 June and 25 December are plotted in the three objective functions. As presented, the heating power quality is acceptable for general usage (about 50°C). For three scenarios the final optimum points for the system are presented using the TOPSIS method.
