In this paper a new modified 3D-Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation (3D-SVPWM) method is implemented with proper utilisation of various active switching vectors and the placement of shoot-through (ST) states for the proposed 3-phase 3-level Z-source Neutral Point Clamped (NPC) inverter. The power conversion period improved compared to the conventional PWM system, which leads to the progress output voltage of the proposed system at higher modulation indexes. The inverter system switching is on at high frequencies, which leads to minimise the voltage stress and reduce the size of passive components like the inductor and capacitor placed in the Z-source inverter. The number of switchings in the proposed system is reduced, which leads to minimise switching loss, ripples in the line current are reduced, TDH is reducedby utilising large and medium vectors. In the modified 3D-SVPWM, the appropriate switching active vectors are selected in every prism to improve the performance of an inverter.
