The present study investigates the influence of different blade cooling techniques on the combined cycle power plant (CCPP) in the perspective of performance augmentation. The influence of Compressor Pressure Ratio (CPR), Gas Turbine Inlet Temperature (GTIT) and Turbine blade temperature (T b ) are extensively studied on the performance of CCPP with six open loop cooling schemes namely Air Internal Convection Cooling (AICC), Air Film Cooling (AFC), Air Transpiration Cooling (ATC), Steam Internal Convection Cooling (SICC), Steam Film Cooling (SFC) and Steam Transpiration Cooling (STC). The performance characteristics energy efficiency, exergy efficiency, specific work output, coolant flow rate requirement, specific fuel consumption (sfc) and carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) emissions of CCPP are evaluated under the influence of above cooling schemes and comparison is made between them. The results show that the maximum performance was obtained for Steam Transpiration Cooling (STC) scheme with a minimum coolant requirement along with reduced CO 2  emissions.
