Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) is a power electronics based system that provides continuous electric power supply to critical equipments when input power fails. For the better performance of UPS when compared with traditional UPS, this paper presents the Z-Source Inverter (ZSI), T-Source Inverter (TSI) and Switched Inductor Z-Source Inverter (SLZSI). The three Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) control techniques like Simple Boost (SB), Maximum Boost (MB) and Third Harmonic Injected Maximum Constant Boost (THIMCB) PWM control are incorporated and compared for the performance analysis of UPS systems by MATLAB/SIMULINK. From the simulation results, it is found that the UPS with SLZSI under THIMCB PWM control is found superior when compared with the UPS with ZSI and TSI. An experimental setup has been developed for the proposed UPS with SLZSI by implementing the THIMCB PWM control algorithm and measurements were taken to validate the theoretical and simulation results.
