Oil remains the world’s leading fuel, accounting for a third of global energy consumption. Global oil consumption growth averaged 1.6 million barrels per day (Mb/d). The demand of energy is increasing with every passing year. The present work focuses on improving system performance. Viscosity is dominant property of the fuel oil which plays a vital role in the quality of combustion process thereby enhancing the system performance. Viscosity is measured for gasoline of grade MG (Motor Gasoline) 91 flowing under the influence of magnetic field applied. Permanent magnets of 3000 Gauss are employed on fuel line. Viscosity of the hydrocarbon fuels is investigated with increasing number of magnetic pairs on fuel line. (1 Pair, 2 Pair, 3 Pairs of magnets applied on fuel flow line) at different positions viz. inlet, center and exit position on fuel line. Test was carried at different locations of the fuel line. These tests help to determine the exact location where magnets need to be placed to achieve maximum drop in the viscosity of hydrocarbon fuel. Experimental results have shown 23% reduction in viscosity of gasoline when the magnets are placed at center of fuel line.
