In this study, seven different densities of warp-knitted mesh fabrics for protective applications were produced by polyethylene monofilament with different diameters, the mechanical properties of the mesh fabrics were tested, including tensile stress along the fabric in three directions with 0°, 45° and 90°, tearing strength, bursting strength and impact force. The results showed that the tensile stress of the protective warp-knitted mesh fabric increased as the strain increased. As the diameter of the yarn increases, the tensile stress of the protective warp-knitted mesh fabric raises gradually. Most of the protective mesh fabric absorbs less energy when stretched at 45°. The tearing strength and bursting strength increased with the increase of horizontal density of the protective warp-knitted mesh fabric. In addition to above, with the increase of the initial energy of the same sample, the energy absorption rate of the protective warp-knitted mesh fabric is higher. The impact resistance performance of the protective warp knitted mesh fabric is very low when the impact is sudden.
