The present study envisaged the development of an efficient protocol of Mn-catalyzed reductive carbonylation of aryl iodides to aryl aldehydes and their corresponding imidazole and oxazole derivatives, by using CO as a carbonyl source, in the presence of hydrosilanes and base [Na 2 CO 3  and NaHCO 3  (1:1)] under mild reaction conditions gave a series of aldehydes in good yields. This approach could be extended for further functionalization of aryl aldehydes and to their corresponding benzimidazole and benzoxazole derivatives with high efficiency.
