A new aza[7]helicene carboxylic acid was synthesized from carbazole in few simple steps. The helical carboxylic acid was characterized by spectroscopic techniques and its photophysical properties were evaluated. The structural parameters were compared with the theoretical values obtained from computational analysis. The molecular recognition of the helical isomers with chiral bases was examined by NMR analysis.
