The type B radioactive package should maintain integrity under the drop test that simulates accidental conditions prescribed in the IAEA transport regulation. To assess the integrity of the package, the drop test measures the acceleration acting on the package. To remove the noise of the measured acceleration, low-pass filtering is commonly used. A cutoff frequency should be required for the proper use of low-pass filtering, but it is difficult to find an appropriate cutoff frequency. This study proposes a new noise reduction method, called Acceleration Integrated Velocity Approximation (AIVA) method, for the impact acceleration data of the drop test, which is an approximation method based on the velocity obtained by integrating acceleration, instead of low-pass filtering based on Fourier transform. The time-series spectrum of acceleration obtained by the AIVA method is in good agreement with the low-pass filtered acceleration, and it can evaluate the optimized cutoff frequency to compare the difference between the two spectra. It should be noted that the validity of AIVA method can be confirmed by comparing with the experimental result obtained independently from acceleration measurement under the drop test. AIVA could be a useful method for the evaluation of acceleration measured in the drop test.
