Aggregation mechanism of two structurally different bile salts (bio-surfactants) in the absence and presence of drugs has been analysed through a conventional technique i.e. surface tension measurement. The anionic bile salts, namely sodium cholate (NaC) and sodium deoxycholate (NaDC), have been used to accomplish this study in the presence of metformin hydrochloride (anti-diabetic drug) and ceftriaxone sodium (antibiotic drug). The effect of hydrophobicity of the constituents and temperature has been analysed by carrying out surface tension measurement at different temperatures and various concentrations of both the components. The results of surface tension measurements have been interpreted in terms of various interactions that may be present in the system and the alteration in micellar behaviour of bile salts has been discussed by determining their critical micelle concentration ( CMC).  Moreover, the information on energetic micellasaion has also been grasped from various thermodynamic parameters evaluated for the system. The study may be considered to be a step to help pharmaceutical industries in terms of utilisation of cholanology to defeat solubility/permeability complications during drug formulations.
