Ca 2 KZn 2 (VO 4 ) 3 :Sm 3+  phosphors have been prepared via the conventional solid state reaction method. Under 331 nm excitation, undoped Ca 2 KZn 2 (VO 4 ) 3  phosphor exhibits broad emission in the range of 400 nm to 600 nm, centered at the 515 nm emission wavelength. Whereas, Sm 3+  doped Ca 2 KZn 2 (VO 4 ) 3  phosphor exhibited three intense emission bands around 567, 601 and 648 nm due to  4 G 5/2− 6 H 5/2 ,  4 G 5/2− 6 H 7/2  and  4 G 5/2− 6 H 9/2  transition of Sm 3+  ions, respectively. These results indicates that the synthesized Ca 2 KZn 2 (VO 4 ) 3 :Sm 3+  phosphors can be used as potential candidate for white light emitting diodes (WLEDs) and display devices.
