The author along with Jean Petrucelli, Ph.D., Jill Howard, Ph.D., and Peter Lessem, Ph.D. was in Group Supervision with Philip Bromberg, Ph.D. for more than a decade. This article addresses the author’s experience of sitting across from Philip Bromberg in “The Hot Seat” during group supervisory sessions. The impact of Dr. Bromberg’s ideas on interpersonal and relational psychoanalytic theory is addressed. Concepts such as self-states, and Sullivan’s ideas on the uniqueness of me-patterns of relating are addressed. The author reflects on the last time he and his fellow group member Jill Howard visited with Dr. Bromberg.
