The structure of the negative-parity low-lying levels in 41Ca is calculated on the basis of a core-nucleon model. Good agreement is obtained between the calculated and experimental level characteristics. The resulting p-level wavefunctions are used to analyse the mechanism of the )I-ray decay of the weak s resonances in 40Ca at 204 and 421 keY.
